SEATTLE (August 2, 2017) — As a leading member-owned credit union, BECU supports the non-profits its members care about through its annual People Helping People Awards. Now through August 31, members can nominate non-profit organizations they support to receive up to $50,000 in donations through the program. BECU members can also vote online for the People's Choice Award finalists beginning in early November.
This year, the credit union is extending the opportunity for members to get involved. Through September, BECU will donate one cent to the People Helping People Awards every time a purchase is made with a BECU Debit Mastercard, up to $500,000.
“Since 2013, BECU members have been at the center of our People Helping People Awards program, introducing us to the non-profits that they support with their talents, time and donations,” said Tom Berquist, BECU's senior vice president of Marketing and Cooperative Affairs. “This year, members can help us give back even more to the community simply by using their BECU debit card when paying for purchases, helping us reach our goal of donating $500,000 to many deserving local non-profits.”
Any BECU member who supports a local non-profit is eligible to nominate that organization for a People Helping People Award. Nomination criteria for the program and a list of the 2016 recipients are available at www.becu.org/makeadifference. The 2017 recipients will be recognized at an event in December.
