With more than 30 years of financial services experience, Scott Strand is a dynamic and innovative leader. Since joining BECU in 2008, he has been dedicated to launching products and services that help improve the member experience and increase the financial well-being of Washington’s largest credit union with more than 1.2 million members.
As chief operating officer (COO), all of BECU’s lines of business report up to Scott, including retail branch banking, wealth management, commercial and business banking, and consumer, mortgage and indirect lending. His leadership inspires others and significantly contributes to the growth of BECU, which held $8.7 billion in assets in 2008 and has over $24 billion today.
Prior to joining BECU, Scott spent five years at Washington Mutual where he held national leadership roles across consumer, mortgage and small business lending businesses. Before that, he spent nearly 20 years at Bank of America as a senior vice president.
Scott is a graduate of Western Washington University, and holds an EMBA Business Administration from the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. He is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School and the CUES CEO Institute held at the Wharton, Johnson and Darden Schools of Business.
Beyond the office, Scott serves on a number of community, corporate and industry boards, including the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County, Greater Seattle Partners, MEMBERS Trust Company, Landau Associates, United Way of Snohomish County and the UW Foster Business School Advisory Board.
